first outdoor BBQ of the year

What a relief the snow is gone. we got to have the first spring BBQ. It was a wonderful sunny 60 degree weekend. we got lots of fresh air and did yard work and watched Fin run around like a mad man thrilled to be outside and free of the snow and the mud. We had a family picnic at the fireman park and went for a hike in the woods and Kaia rolled in the old leaf piles and found lots of rotten things with her super nose.

I bought some new garden tools and removed the pond (of course its removal was prompted by Fin's obsession and over interest in this water feature). and cleaned up all the broken pots and brown carcasses of the morning glories from last year. Bill raked leaves and cleaned the grill and removed random detritus form the patio. Finley played in his sandbox and went for wagon rides in our bumpy yard and chased the dog and kicked the soccer ball and threw dirt balls and rocks and fell down the deck steps a few times. It was great!!!

The we fired up the grill and Matt & Georgia came over for dinner and we watched the sun set. We had a fire in the chiminea and the dogs ran around and Finley fed the dogs half of his dinner.

This year's long winter has kept the grass very brown and no sign of buds on the trees yet. so despite the sun, the yard and the world looked pretty dead but we know the spring is about to spring. We have a few crocuses that are up in the front yard.

It won't be long now.
